Proud to participate

The first time

We, the members of the Danish Diet and Nutrition Association, are proud to participate in EXPO Zaragoza 2008.
As far as I am aware, this is the first time that a professional association and trade union manages the restaurant in the Danish pavilion at a world fare. But along with running the restaurant our project “the Pleasant Everyday Meal” clearly demonstrates what social innovation is all about.

Relationship

Millions of people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, kindergartens etc. around the Globe are every day receiving meals not prepared by themselves or somebody in the family, but by food professionals.
The members of the Danish Diet and Nutrition Association focus on several elements when they cook for children, adults the ill, and the elderly in Denmark
In our restaurant called Relationship, the visitors will get the opportunity to eat as one of these persons. You will experience first hand how a mutually satisfying relationship is generating in interaction with the professionals who are cooking and serving the food.
We work with “personas” as an innovation tool to close the physical and psychological gap between the person preparing the food and the person eating it. The result is social innovation or what we call – Pleasant Everyday Meals.

Example

Let me give you an example: Sara Elisabeth is 5 years old and eats her lunch in the kindergarten. She takes quite a long time to finish her meal because she is fidgety, and finds it very difficult to sit still.
To ensure that she eats well, her lunch has been prepared with emphasis on play and experimentation. The child now plays an active part in preparing her own meal and the result is that she eats her meal because her interest has been captured by the food.

Our partners

We in the Danish Diet and Nutrition Association think of ourselves as forward looking and courageous. This applies equally when we look around for partners.
This project has been developed in close cooperation with “Madeleines Food Theatre” who has contributed to the creative process.
We have also been lucky to find outstanding sponsors among the Danish suppliers who believe in our project. So if you want to experience a Pleasant Danish Everyday Meal I can recommend Restaurant Relationship in the Danish Pavilion.
